Instructions for Ph.D Full-Time Application Form 2022

BASIC ELIGIBILITY:

Candidates need to satisfy the following criteria to be considered eligible for doctoral studies in select schools at XIM University, Bhubaneswar as indicated below. For information on the schools please visit the XIM University, Bhubaneswar homepage http://www.xim.edu.in. Candidates not meeting the eligibility criteria need not apply to the school in concern.

School Necessary Qualification for Doctoral Studies: Candidates should have
Xavier Institute of Management Master’s or equivalent degree in any discipline with minimum 60% of marks in the Master’s level.
School of Human Resource Management a. Full time Post Graduate or Master’s Degree from any AICTE / UGC approved institution in Human Resource Management / Psychology / Personnel Management / Labour Welfare / Industrial or Employment Relations / Business Management having at least 55% marks in aggregate.
OR
b. Master’s or equivalent degree and UGC NET qualified in Subjects like- Human Resource Management / Psychology / Personnel Management / Labour Welfare / Industrial or Employment Relations / Business Management having at least 55% marks in aggregate.
OR
c. Master’s Degree in any other discipline, from AICTE / UGC approved institutions, with minimum 60% of marks in aggregate.
School of Rural Management Master's degree in any discipline or equivalent.
School of Human Settlements

Master’s Degree in any discipline. Those from the disciplines not mentioned below may have to undertake additional coursework.

For Ph.D- Urban Management and Governance:
Master’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration / Management / Planning / Urban Design / Urban Development / Architecture / Sustainability / Geography / Public Policy / Political Science / Public Administration / Governance / Engineering / Technology / Public Health - and all related specializations of the above.


For PhD-Planning:
Master’s degree or equivalent in Planning / Architecture / Urban Design / Urban Development / Geography / Economics / Sociology - and all related specializations of the above.

School of Sustainability Master’s or equivalent degree in any discipline with minimum 60% of marks in the Master’s level.
School of Commerce Master’s or equivalent degree in any discipline with minimum 60% of marks in the Master’s level.
School of Communications Master’s degree in Communication and Journalism / Visual Communication / Communication / Electronic Media / New media / Fine Arts / Advertising and Public Relations / Broadcast Communication / Film Studies / English language and literature, OR a professional Degree in the stream of communication declared equivalent by the corresponding statuary regulatory body.
School of Computer Science & Engineering M. Tech. / M.E. / Master Degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Electronics / Telecommunication / Data Science, or MBA / MS with B.Tech in Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Information Technology.
Xavier Law School L.L.M. Degree (regular mode) from a recognized University securing an aggregate of 55% marks or its equivalent grade.
School of Governance and Public Affairs Master’s degree in Social Science / Technology / Management / Allied Discipline or equivalent from a recognized University securing an aggregate of 55% marks or its equivalent grade.

In the above table of basic eligibility, aggregate percentage of marks required in the Master’s (or an equivalent) level is mentioned by specific schools separately, if not mentioned for any school treat is as 55%. In case the score is available on a letter-grade system or grade-point system, the University expects a minimum equivalent of prescribed percentage of marks in aggregate as per the awarding University’s norms for conversion to a percentage.

DOMAIN ELIGIBILITY:

Domain candidates (Category-I) are candidates who on the date of joining the Ph.D program are expected to possess sufficient and relevant knowledge of the domain that characterize the school where the candidate has applied. The domain candidates are identified based on the following qualification basis as given in the table below (and received within the last 5 years) at the time of admission.

* Students with Master’s degree in Psychology may have to take additional courses in the field of HRM after admission.

Master’s degree in any discipline or equivalent with one year Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management / Rural Development.
School of Human Settlements

School of Commerce Master’s degree or equivalent in Accounting / Finance / Marketing / HR
Professional qualifications such as CA, CMA, CFA, and CS shall be an added advantage for Accounting and Finance disciplines

Those candidates who will not satisfy the stated criteria at the time of admission above are classified as Other (Category-II) candidates.

How to Apply?
Step 1: Fill up the "Login Details" (in the Next page) to create and receive by email a unique XU ID/Login ID and Password for applying to XIM University. If you have already received your Login ID and Password, then login as per Step 2.
Step 2: Login with your Login ID and Password. Fill up the Personal Details, Academic Details, Professional Details, Research Area Details and Statement of Purpose (SoP), upload your photo & signature, and Submit. (You may keep ready the scanned/digital images of your photo/signature in JPEG format, in advance. The dimensions of photo may be of about 200x250 pixels, and the signature may be of about 250x125 pixels, Photo within 85kb and signature within 50kb in size).
Step 3: Pay the application fee through the Payment Gateway. (Application fee is 1,600 INR).

If you have filled the application form and paid the application fee successfully, you will receive the confirmation by email regarding the acceptance of your online application form.

SELECTION PROCESS:

Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their academic records and SOPs. The shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for XIM Research Aptitude Test (X-RAT), Subject Test (if applicable), Presentation, and Personal Interview to be held in Bhubaneswar.

PLEASE NOTE

One candidate can apply to only one program and one school. Also, candidates need to understand the Domain and Other (Non-Domain) category from the Eligibility. Before proceeding to the application form go through the Indicative Research Area section of different schools offered Ph.D in XIM University, Bhubaneswar in order to specify your choice of areas of research.

The last date to fill up the application form is March 31, 2022.
